Alt Text
The hidden description of an image on a webpage that helps search engines understand what the picture shows. It also helps people who can't see the image.
Alt text (alternative text) is a written description added to an image HTML code that explains what an image shows. This text appears if the image fails to load and is read aloud by screen readers for people with visual impairments. Good alt text makes websites more accessible and helps everyone understand your content, regardless of how they browse. From an SEO perspective, alt text helps search engines understand your images since they can't "see" pictures the way humans do. Adding relevant, descriptive alt text gives search engines important context about your images and can help your pages rank better in both regular search and image search results. When writing alt text, be specific and descriptive without keyword stuffing. For example, instead of "dog," better alt text would be "golden retriever puppy playing in a park." Keep it under 125 characters, include relevant keywords naturally where appropriate, but always prioritize accurately describing the image over forcing in keywords.
